Altri and The Navigator Company have donated digital radiology equipment to the Figueira da Foz District Hospital, which will enable X-Rays to be performed on infected patients, thus cutting the time required for diagnosis and reducing the risk of infection, which is high in the new coronavirus patients.
This new equipment, which will be available immediately, means that the Figueira da Foz District Hospital will no longer have to move infected patients to the radiology department, thereby preventing contamination which may cause infections, particularly in the elderly.
The new equipment is a portable, state-of-the- -art direct digital radiology machine which cuts down on repeated X-ray exams, thus substantially lowering the amount of radiation to which patients are subjected. It also provides clinicians with the images immediately, thereby contributing towards faster and more effective decision-making and helping to lower operating costs and provide better patient care.
